Postdoc Positions in Computational Biology
Machine Learning for Systems Biology, Genetics & Personalized Medicine
Postdoctoral positions are available in the research group of Dr. Gunnar Rätsch at the Computational Biology Center, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC), New York City. Current research projects include the novel approaches for the analysis of deep RNA sequencing data and genome annotation; association studies for mapping expression and splicing QTLs; and innovative learning techniques for sequence and image analysis. We have worked on human, D. melanogaster, C. elegans, and A. thaliana. (See http://cbio.mskcc.org/raetschlab for details.)
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates interested in applying/developing data analysis techniques for deep sequencing, systems biology and statistical genetics aiming to advance a) the systemic understanding of molecular and disease phenotypes and b) personalized medicine and treatment. We encourage to pursue own ideas and to establish collaborations with the many experimental biologists or medical doctors at MSKCC, Weill-Cornell Medical College, or Rockefeller University (all within two blocks on the Upper East Side).
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in statistics, computational biology, biology/medicine, or a related field with strong publications and professional references. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in the analysis of genomic or medical data, sufficient knowledge of molecular biology, and significant programming experience pertinent to the analysis of large and diverse datasets. We expect the candidates to (co-)supervise graduate students and to have excellent communication skills for effective interaction with group members and collaborators.
MSKCC is a unique institution including one of the largest cancer hospitals in the US, a well-connected, large basic research institute and a biomedical graduate school. MSKCC is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of recruiting and employment. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants should send a research statement, a CV, a cover letter including names of three references to Gunnar Rätsch (ratschg-at-mskcc.org). If funding via a fellowship is possible, please contact us and we may help you getting the fellowship.
